bear grylls' word of wisdom

Latest updates: flight tickets comprising of 3-way journeys from manchester to dar es salaam and onwards to kuala lumpur, returning to manchester cost just under 950 gbp from stat travel. weh havent bought it yet and will do so by tues the latest. hopefully u'll get your reply by then tqah, so that we can buy them tickets together.

N'ways, i have been a fan of bear gryll's born survivor lately. n this is one thing he said tht stuck to mind thus far. (he's surprisingly bright for someone who eat simply everything he can laid his eyes on-lizards, camel's intestines, goat's testicles, and so on).

"To achieve your dreams, you need to get out of your comfort zone and get to places where you can do whatever it is you need to do. Then you have to make it home in one piece, as a survivor."
-bear gryls, some exaggeration and probable grammar mistakes by farah apoo

So yeah, cant wait for our 'big adventure'!

Why do we fall in love?

Love is a purely physiological response with overly dramatisation over centuries by hopeless romantic writers/poets.

We need to breed. As female homo sapien, we only want the best for our potential offspring. That explains why physical attraction is important - we want to have a physically superior offspring that can survive better in the competitive environment (especially in future mating). Also why money is important. In elephants, the best male is the one with the biggest tusk. In human, the best male with the best look, big number in the bank account, big personality and loyalty.

Sense of loyalty and fear of losing our male partner (as we call it in the north) arise from almost thousands of years of evolution. After mating and producing offspring, like other mammals, female homo sapien normally take care of the offspring (breastfeeding, grooming etc). In order to do this, support from the male homosapien is very important. Therefore, it is important for human to have a emotional mechanism that leads to keeping the male homo sapien, not only after the mating season but throughout raising up their offspring, and growing old together.

The sadness or the phenomena of 'heartbroken' also arise from thousands of years of evolution. If homo sapien do not feel sad after losing or ending up a relationship with their partner, the offspring will lose as their parents will fight and separates so easily.

The end.

Flight

Apparently, flight is not straighforward kalau nk balik terus gi Malaysia from Tanzania. Boleh je, tp kene adventerous skit.

Flight from Manchester to Dar Es Salaam - Senang je.. one way ticket around 300pound bleh dpt

Masalahnyer Dar Es Salaam to Kuala Lumpur... xde direct flight.. so kene beli separate ticket..
Dar Es Salaam to Dubai (Emirates) ~ GBP 350 pounds..
Dubai to KUL (Yemen Airlines) ~ 118pounds (yg ni cheapest la)

KUL back to Manchester - Mahal la gak as it stands now ~ 400

So looking at it now mcm... 300 + 350 + 118 + 400 = GBP1168 - mampu x nie?
Sbb kalau return ticket tanzania UK ok je.. masalahnyer nk balik msia balik, pastuh balik UK balik
adoiiii...

Accommodation

UHHUHUu.. even though I haven't received any reply yet, but I am so excited that I already looking for accommodation. There is a youth hostel 10 minutes walking from the hospital - 14 pounds week - sounds good!

ALternatively, kalau korg rasa x kompiden psal hostel tuh ada sebut christian (Tanzania Youth Christian Students), I've look at hostelbookers.com - ada hostel tp mahal la skit, 4pound satu malam... Shana Hostels
Tabata, Segerea, Dar es Salaam, 000, Tanzania - map - directions

Tp so far, the best bet mcm youth hostel tuh.. im sure bukan christian pun depa accept kot.. we can call them.. yer la kan.. walaupun non-christian,mustila dier suka kiter nk dok situ, bleh depa dakwah kt kiter.. kui kui kui...

iv just done my elective at muhimbili, and i stayed at TYCS, which is nearby and a good place to stay.

TYCS, kibasila street, upanga. +255 222 152 778.

£14 a week bed and breakfast (bread, butter, tea, coffee, sometimes a banana or papaya).
showers and toilets are shared, and just cold water in the showers, but i definately recommend it for ur elective placement.

I did my medical elective in Dar last year. It was amazing you will have a fab time!! We found a very cheap hostel close to the hospital. It is called TYCS (tanzania youth christian students... or something like that!)and was about 10 mins walk from the hosptial. It was about 2 quid per night and included breakfast. Ask the woman at the uni in the office who organized you she will have the number. It is in upanga and full of other medics! good luck - make sure you get to zanzibar!!!! xx
